The Nolan & Ruby Memorial Scholarship is in honor of two Outstanding Americans who devoted their life's to this country, family, friends and the community.

Mr. Nolan Atkinson

(02/05/1941 to 04/02/1983)

Nolan Atkinson was born in Brunswick, Georgia. He received his eduction from the public schools of Camden County. He later moved to Tifton, Georgia where he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in December 1963. He had one tour in Vietnam and in December 1965 Nolan got out of the Army with a Honorable Discharge. After returning from Vietnam Nolan married Ruby Tumbling. He was a devoted husband and father. He was also a devoted member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Nolan was also a member of Masonic Lodge #47.


                                      Mrs. Ruby Tumbling Atkinson

                                           (03/06/1941 to 05/18/1996)

Ruby Atkinson was born in Tifton, Georgia and received her education from the public schools of Tift County. Ruby became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. For forty three years she was a devoted usher always on her duty, Mother of the Church, treasurer of the Missionary Auxiliary and faithful church member. A loving family woman, Ruby always put family first.

Mr. Nolan & Ruby Atkinson have three children. LTC Ronald Atkinson, Ms. Amanda Atkinson and Ms. Vonda Atkinson.
