What We Do
Tutoring
Share The Dream Foundation collaborates with parents, volunteers, and
schools to provide tutoring to improve children's reading and math skills.
Our schools are suffering from severe budget cuts and are most
appreciative of help from community volunteers. What could be more
rewarding than helping a child all year and starting to see their
improvement.
Mentoring
We are very excited about our mentoring program. In the mentoring
program a student is matched with a mentor, who spends time listening
and talking with the student and helps them as they travel the difficult
teen years. The mentor is not a parent, teacher, or counselor, but rather
a person they can look to discuss issues they perhaps would not discuss
otherwise.
Basketball Camp
Every Thursday we open the gym to the church and invite the community
youth to participate in our Basketball Thursday's. The program consist of
mentoring, guest speakers, basketball games and dinner. Our goal is to
reduce crime in the community, give the youth something to do, provide a
meal and leadership skills.
Health Needs
To improve the children's quality of life and make learning possible. Share
The Dream provides health and basic needs, which include healthy
meals, snacks and classes on healthy eating.
Holiday Food
Baskets
Share The Dream offers baskets of food to hard-pressed children and
their families. We also offer Gift Certificates from various grocery stores.
